Running 31st January 2009

Had a great run (from about half way through it) around Farley Green. You should run around here ML when you start increasing your distance to 20 miles, its beautiful..
Total time: 50:04:01. It wasn't the best run I have ever had, as can you believe it, I didn't have ENOUGH food in my system (I thought one could run on absolutely nothing but this I discover, is not true! : )
Managed to get into a rhythm around half way so there is merit in just 'hanging in there'.

Pleased I am sticking to this - 'serious runner now' so no option really : ) it's do or die and I am not ready to die.

Running 29th January 2009

Oh why did I decide to take running seriously? Aaarrrggghhhhh!
Do not want to run.
Do not want to get up.
Do not want to face the hill.
Do not want to pass Go.
Do not want to collect money.
Do not want to do anything.
Only want for more sleep....

And then... snap back into the mental process of 'JUST DO IT'... and had a shorter run.

In total 34:21:33. Lap 1 17:57:45 with Lap 2 16:23:88. Hard, heavy, 'can't believe I am doing this' run. Not even happy once I had done it - oh my word what WILL I do in the MdS if this is the attitude for a mere few pathetic kilometers? Think 'universe size achievements' Liz, it's the only way Loch Ness and the MdS will become a reality. You said you want to be a serious runner now just do it. The benefits FAR outweigh the mental games that consist merely of puff and smoke if you get your head facing the right direction again.

Ok. Ready now..!

Running 26th January 2009

Sticking to schedule and total run of 44:33:84. Lap out 23:20:06 and Lap back 21:13:76. Ankle absolutely fine which just proves my previous point. Ice and Nurofen gel (thanks ML) and massage did it! Heavy going but I put that down to having too much food in my system.
ML thanks for comment from my last Blog. You are right and what you say is inspirational. Thank you. : )

Spinning

Spinning session for 20 min. So pleased, no backache whatsoever! Hooray... a great start and ready for build up on non running days..

Running 23rd January 2009

I have now learnt emphatically that aches, pains and niggles after starting to run again are merely a test of mental readiness. It must be something every sports person has to overcome time and again and with that conclusion set firmly in my brain I can now continue regardless.
First time ever, my ankle, right inner 'shin' started niggling after my run on the 21st. So much for feeling light and able to clock a better time. As ML says, we simply go too fast too hard too soon. One has to feel as though Mr Plod is just behind you knowing you may not run away from him...

Kept running (with the niggle on every step) as I am sure this will be resolved with ice, massage and slowing down a little.
Time - 43:23:46
Lap 1 - 22:47:82
Lap 2 - 20:35:64

At least I am getting out there. I hope to stick to the schedule 100% in terms of sessions per week as from this week coming.

Happy.

Running 21st January 2009

Had a great run today. Felt light, fast and it shows in my time. Went further today past the Boxgrove traffic lights to HLE.
Total time 41:51:43. Lap 1 was to the traffic lights as per the last few runs and I did it about 40-50 seconds faster, 17:03:28. Lap 2 to HLE was 4:43:97 and then Lap 3 home from HLE was 20:04:18.
IT band niggling - ice and building up quad is the way forward. Didn't eat much last night which also helps with a better run I find!
Pleased I did it.

Running 20th January 2009

Different route, past old Woolworths and up York Road to Boxgrove traffic lights. Heavy legs, very gradual incline which made me work harder. Total time 39:26:97. Lap 1 20:11:18 and Lap home 19:15:79.

Running 17th January 2009

Same route, similar time. 34:13:47
Lap 1 out 17:56:73.
Lap 2 home 16:16:74
Knee fine.

Running 14th January 2009

Did same route again and time a few seconds slower today. Total was 34:41:44 with Lap 1 17:59:43 and lap 2 16:42:01.

Quads tight with a tender spot on my quad top left, left leg. Otherwise good and on track with my marathon schedule...

Lost a kilo since Saturday, many many many to go....! (26)

Glad I did it.

Running on 12th January 2009

Had a good run up my usual E route and ran for 34:29:11.
Lap one (out) was 17:51:95 and Lap 2 (home) was 16:31:16.

IT band was just fine but a few niggles under the cartilage of my left knee. Stretching and ice did the trick when home.

Good run.

On The Road Again

5th January 2009. Up at 6am to run after a long spell away and what a great surprise awaited me when I opened the door. Stepped out into a world of white. I absolutely love running in the snow so this was suddenly going to be easy.

Had a really good, peaceful and calm run/walk for 24 minutes.

Marvellous..
